A resolution in 12 parts

Yesterday, mulling over the year that was, I found myself ruminating on my ongoing lethargy when it comes to personal creativity. I often do creative things in the pursuit of other people’s agendas, yet very rarely follow through on any of my own creative whims. What I needed, I determined, was structure, a forced march of creative expression, a contrived blurst of output.

Hence Project Blurst: a new year’s resolution in 12 parts.

My challenge: to complete 12 different creative projects, one per month, for the next 12 months. Some projects may be ambitious (make a short film), others may appear to be more straightforward (write some poetry), all must be completed and publicly presented on schedule, regardless of quality or any personal depths of dissatisfaction.

This blog serves as the whip, the threat of failure, the peer pressure point. I will recount my intentions and exploits periodically, and may you all shame me into compliance.

Stay tuned for the announcement of my first project (completion due date 31 January). Yikes!
